IHSAA Marion Regional 2008
The lead pack of about 8 guys went through the mile in 5:09. The pack of Ross Ochs, Josh Graham, Austin Roberts, and Homestead sophomore Kodi Mullins put down an impressive 5:05 for the next mile and dropped everyone else. Michael Waymire led the chase pack of himself, Sam Doughty, Bellmont freshman Evan Boucher, Homestead senior Evan Hanley, and Southwood senior Chandler Sonafrank. Ochs, Graham, and Mullins, all early-season leaders, thought it would only be a matter of time until Roberts faded out. However, with a kilometer to go, Mullins and Graham began to string off the back a bit and Roberts made a hard surge past Ochs into the lead and proceeded to gap them all. Ross got a little worried at the end and instead of waiting on him to die, made a hard surge with a quarter mile to go and pulled off the win in 16:00. Roberts was close behind in second in 16:02, and Graham dropped Mullins to finish third in 16:07.
