Going into Saturday’s IHSAA New Haven Semi-State the Men In Black will look to do something that has never been done before in school history - Win the Semi-State.
After dominating Sectionals and Regional’s last week, going 1-2-3 in both meets, the MIB now turn their attention to the best in Northeast Indiana and in the process earn a spot at next week’s IHSAA State Finals in Terre Haute.
At regional’s the MIB were lead by junior Ross Ochs but fellow junior stepped up and finished in second place, only three seconds behind Ochs. Junior Josh Graham followed close behind to complete the 1-2-3 sweep.
Heading into Semi-State, the MIB are ranked No. 8 in the state and are looking to knock off favorite Carroll ranked No. 2 in the state.
Carroll is lead by sophomore James Martin who won the Semi-State last season and was runner-up at the State meet. The race is setting up to be very tight and should be very fun to watch.
The Lady Vikings also are looking to advance to state after winning the sectional and regional.
The Vikes are also ranked No.9 in the and also trail Fort Wayne Carroll who is also ranked No. 2 in the state.
Led by sophomore Natalie Spahr, the Vikes will look to upset the Chargers and head to Terre Haute next week with a Semi-State championship.
Both races are setting up to be very close and exciting. The action will begin on Saturday at the Plex in Fort Wayne. The girl’s race starts at 1 p.m. and the boy’s race will follow.

Coach Hines,
I just seen the results from semi-state and I'm very pleased the see the results. Please tell the team that they ran one hell of a race. I'm glad to see that the Vikes are again the talk of the town and keeping the tradition going. I see a quote about how summer running pays off in the end and I totally agree. The summer dedication is were it's at and will always make or break a season. Again, tell the team congrats and good luck next week at State!

Dave,
Thanks for the words of encouragement... I shared them with the guys this afternoon at practice.
It has been a GREAT year for the MIB and we hope to pull out all the stops this Saturday down in Terre Haute.
When will you be in town again? We will be running the Heritage Days 5K again this next summer if you will be around... I would love to get a chance to introduce you to the guys and talk about the old days!!!
Hope things are good!!!

Curtis,
I'm planning to be in town over the X-mas timeframe. If your around or some of the guys, we can have a cup of joe in huntington. Not sure on next summer, being in the Army I'm never quite sure what opportunities I'll have. I always plan to be around town for the 4th of July. Let me know what your doing during the week of X-mas.
Dave
