Now with the snow, ice and early evenings here, many are looking for alternatives to going outside or just an alternative to running in general. What are some good ideas for someone that is shut in?

I'm going to try stairs.
The building I'm working in at the moment has 12 or 13 floors with 2 flights per floor. I walked up from the basement to the 6th floor the other day and my legs were a little tiggly and I was breathing hard. I thought this could mean only 1 thing. --we must be at altitude.

If you want to do some hardcore stairs there is a stair "race" in Indy at the begginning of February downtown...
The 25th annual BOP TO THE TOP Stairclimb will happen on Saturday, February 2nd. There are a few new categories this year. This 37 floor stairclimb up the OneAmerica Tower building in downtown Indianapolis is open to everyone young to old. Last year the age range was 4 to 78. Go your own pace up the staircase and help raise money for Riley Hospital for Children. The event starts at 9:00 a.m. and will go until about 1pm – using two staircases along the way. Come see how fast you can climb the stairs and perhaps win an award in your age group. For those that help collect money for Riley, you will be making a huge contribution to a great cause! For complete info, including an entry blank be sure to visit the Tuxedo Brothers website. VOLUNTEERS are still needed ya know… contact us to let us know if you would like to help.

I always thought that would be fun. Maybe next year. I'm winded after jogging 7 stories on my to work. But then I didn't stretch.
