Congrats to Matt Ditzler! If Huntington and IWU qualifies for Nationals than he will be joining his teammate Walter at NAIA Nationals.

and congrats to nick and his teammates on a third place finish...good luck at nationals

A lot of "really good" teams in Region I and II got beat today... That is absolutely shocking.

i just also want to say that i feel extremely blessed to be a captain for tech...for a bunch of 18-19 year old kids to come out and compete with men in our first year, i couldn't be prouder of what me and my teammates have done this year...and i gotta give a lot of the credit to the coaching staff for believing in our abilities and making us the runners we are today...this has to be one of the greatest experiences of my life so far

What an outstanding race it was this passed Saturday. It certainly lived up to its billing.
Its very nice to see Huntington come on at the end, of the race and the season. I'm really looking forward to Kenosha.
I thought IWU looked flat on both sides, Huntington came to play and Tech showed its inexperience.
I believe all three return just about everyone, so hopefully the new conference format will promote less dodging and more head to head matchups. I think we are in for some epic battles.

4 teams not ahead of Tech got in....so that means according to my calculations that they get the last or 2nd to last spot if they take 28 teams......9 regional champs + 15 at-large bids = top 24 rankings get in, I think

thats what we think too so we're all pretty excited up here...i doubt there has ever been a team of all freshman in a first year program making it to nationals in the mens and womens divisions...pretty awesome for a team of 'inexperienced' freshman

Congratulations to all the Region VIII teams that will be running at nationals next week. At this point it looks like Tech will be in that group, based upon today's rankings. I would like to add that I felt the Tech men competed with a great deal of poise, considering the situation they were faced with, and the fact that they were all racing their 5th collegiate race. I don't really think that their inexperience was an issue at all. Tech notched 6 PRs on Saturday (out of 9 runners), when the season was on the line. I don't think much more could be asked of them. They were beaten by some very good teams, but they ran like a team well beyond their years. If all goes as expected in the next 24 hours, Tech will be racing at the national meet in the first year for the program. This is a huge accomplishment, and it should put to an end, once and for all, the criticism and skepticism that has been directed their way in the past. Again, congratulations to everyone who will be competing at nationals. Let's represent Region VIII.

teams are dropping like rocks.... AND THAT IS NO SURPRISE!!!
This happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR... this year Region VIII proved it though... Cornerstone and Indiana Wesleyan raced Azusa and Concordia (CA) at Kenosha... Aquinas went out west and PROVED that the courses out there are REALLY FAST (while also destroying all Region I and II teams that they faced)... and Indiana Wesleyan and Huntington went to Roy Griak and ran very well against ranked NAIA opponents!!! The teams out west ALWAYS try and get it done using their fast times... head-to-head competition kept them from pulling the wool over the eyes of the raters this year though... FINALLY!!!
I felt all year that 5 teams from Region VIII should be running in the NAIA National Meet... it is, and is ALWAYS, one of the 3 strongest regionals in the nation!!!
This ranking FINALLY is giving this region the respect that it deserves. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL REGION VIII TEAMS ON A GREAT SEASON!!!

Have to admit, I'm very, very surprised Tech got in. This almost never happens. And then with Woods saying he would only push for 4 teams all year long. This is very suprising. The last time this happened was in '99 when the region went 6-7-10-1X-1X, which was actually done through a conference based system with Huntington, Taylor, IWU coming out of the MCC. Grace had a legit shot as well that year.

Well, it wasn't IWU....And despite what Taylor would have you believe, someone issued a butt kickin' fair and square.
